Ordering Guide & Tips

A Chicken Burrito or Burrito Bowl at Chipotle costs $9.35–$9.95, Steak and Beef Barbacoa cost $11.35–$11.95, and a Kids Build Your Own meal costs $5.60–$5.95. Chipotle has no fixed item prices in the usual sense: you pick a format — burrito, bowl, quesadilla, salad or tacos — and the protein you choose sets the price. Chipotle prices by restaurant, so every price on this page is the verified range from Chipotle’s own ordering system, checked at restaurants in Denver, Austin and Chicago in October 2026. Below is the full Chipotle menu with the build system explained, the official per-ingredient calories Chipotle publishes, and the extras that change what you pay.

How the Chipotle Menu Works

The Chipotle menu is a build line, not a list of set dishes. There are five entrée formats — Burrito, Burrito Bowl, Quesadilla, Salad and Tacos — and every format is priced by the protein inside it. Chicken and Sofritas sit on the lowest tier, Carnitas in the middle, and Steak and Beef Barbacoa at the top, and the tier price is the same across formats: a chicken burrito, a chicken bowl, a chicken salad and three chicken tacos all cost the same $9.35–$9.95. The full menu on this page is organized exactly that way, one row per protein for each format.

Inside the entrée price you get your choice of cilantro-lime white or brown rice, black or pinto beans, the four salsas, fajita veggies, Monterey Jack cheese, sour cream and romaine lettuce — all included at no extra charge. Five things cost more, and they are the only upcharges on the line:

  • Guacamole — $2.95 added to an entrée. The exception is the Veggie entrée: guacamole is included in Veggie burritos, bowls, salads and tacos at no extra charge.
  • Queso blanco — $1.70 inside an entrée.
  • Cilantro lime sauce — $1.00 inside an entrée.
  • A second portion of protein — $3.80–$6.70, priced by the protein. This is how a “double chicken” or “double steak” build is charged.
  • Double wrap — $0.50 for a second flour tortilla around a burrito.

There is no separate lunch menu and no lunch pricing — the same menu and the same prices run from opening to closing, so a burrito costs the same at noon as it does at night.

Does Chipotle serve breakfast? No. Chipotle has no breakfast menu and no breakfast items at any point in its history — restaurants open mid-morning, most at 10:45 AM, and serve the regular menu from the moment they open.
Does Chipotle have a secret menu?Chipotle publishes no secret menu. The named off-menu builds people order — the Quesarito, the 3-pointer, the double wrap — are requests assembled from ingredients already on the line. They are covered in the Secret Menu & Hacks section below, at exactly that level.

Burritos, Bowls, Salads & Tacos

The burrito is the full build wrapped in a burrito-size flour tortilla. The burrito bowl is the same build served in a bowl with no tortilla — it is a separate menu item, not a burrito variant, and it is the format most people mean when they say “Chipotle bowl.” The salad puts the build on a supergreens lettuce blend with Chipotle-honey vinaigrette, plus rice, beans, salsas and fajita veggies. Tacos come as a set of three ($9.35–$12.25 by protein) or as a single taco ($3.50–$4.90), in soft flour or crispy corn tortillas.

What changes the price between these formats is only the protein tier and, on quesadillas, the format itself — see the price list in the menu on this page. What changes the eating experience is the tortilla: it is the only structural difference between a burrito and a bowl, and it is also a 320-calorie difference, which the Nutrition section works through.

Bowl or burrito — which is better value? They cost the same at the same protein tier, because the price is set by the protein, not the format. The bowl drops the 320-calorie flour tortilla; the burrito is the portable, hand-held version of the identical build. Neither is a better deal — they are the same food in two shapes.
What happened to the Lifestyle Bowls? They are discontinued. The named preset line — Whole30, Keto, Paleo, Vegan and the other Lifestyle Bowls — appears nowhere in Chipotle’s current menu data; the presets were removed and the High Protein Menu below is the curated line that replaced them. The builds themselves can still be assembled from the standard ingredients on the line.
Can you still order a Lifestyle Bowl build?Yes, as a custom build, not as a named item. Order a regular bowl or salad and pick the same components — the line will make it — but it is rang up as a standard entrée at the standard protein price, not as a Lifestyle Bowl.

Quesadillas

The quesadilla is Monterey Jack cheese and your protein folded in a flour tortilla, and it is the one format priced above the shared protein tier: $9.90–$10.50 with chicken, sofritas or cheese only, up to $11.90–$12.50 with steak or barbacoa. Every quesadilla comes with your choice of three sides — salsas, rice, beans, sour cream or the Chipotle-honey vinaigrette. Guacamole and queso blanco can be added to a quesadilla for $2.95 each — note that queso costs more as a quesadilla add-on ($2.95) than it does inside a burrito or bowl ($1.70).

Quesadillas are ordered through Chipotle’s app and website — digital ordering is the channel the quesadilla is sold through, so you will find it in the ordering flow rather than treating it as a counter special. The kids’ version is in the Kids’ Meals section below.

Quesadilla or bowl? The bowl is the bigger, fully customizable build at the lower price — a chicken bowl is $9.35–$9.95 against $9.90–$10.50 for a chicken quesadilla — and it takes every topping on the line. The quesadilla is the grilled, cheese-forward format with three sides included. Pick the quesadilla for the format, the bowl for volume and choice.

Proteins, Toppings, Sides & Drinks

Six proteins are on the line every day: Chicken (adobo-marinated and grilled), Steak, Beef Barbacoa (cooked sous vide until tender), Carnitas (pork, seasoned, braised and hand-shredded), Sofritas (organic tofu crumbled with chipotle peppers and roasted poblanos — the vegan protein) and the no-protein Veggie build, which carries the free guacamole. A seventh slot rotates as the limited-time protein — see Specials & Limited-Time Items below.

The four salsas are the heat ladder of the menu, mildest to hottest: Fresh Tomato Salsa (mild), Roasted Chili-Corn Salsa (medium), Tomatillo-Green Chili Salsa (medium-hot) and Tomatillo-Red Chili Salsa (hot). The red tomatillo salsa is the hottest standard component on the line; the mildest complete build is a sofritas or veggie entrée with the fresh tomato salsa. Every salsa is included free in an entrée, and each is also sold as a large side ($2.35–$2.45) and paired with chips in the Chips & Sides list on this page.

Chips are hand-cut, fried fresh and seasoned with lime and salt — $1.95–$2.10 for the regular 4 oz bag, $2.75 for the large 6 oz bag. The new Chili Lime Chips ($2.45–$2.60, large $3.45) are sold alongside them at every restaurant checked. Guacamole is hand-mashed in-house from Hass avocados: a 4 oz side is $2.95 and a large 8 oz side is $5.90, the same prices as queso blanco in both sizes. A side of any protein is also sold on its own — that is the item the High Protein Menu calls its Cups.

Drinks run $3.15–$3.65. The fountain is Tractor organic drinks (lemonade, mandarin agua fresca, berry agua fresca, watermelon limeade) plus soda and iced tea in 22 oz ($3.15–$3.20) and 32 oz ($3.45–$3.50) sizes. The bottled lineup is Mexican Coca-Cola and Mexican Sprite in glass bottles, Coke Zero, San Pellegrino sparkling water, Open Water, Jarritos mango and guava, Poppi orange and strawberry lemon, Nantucket Nectars apple juice and a bottled Tractor lemonade.

Kids’ Meals

Chipotle’s kids’ menu has two formats, and both are built the same made-to-order way as the adult line. The Kids Build Your Own ($5.60–$5.95) is a 2 oz portion of your protein with two crispy corn or two soft flour tortillas, a choice of toppings (rice, beans, salsas, cheese, sour cream, fajita veggies, romaine), a side of kid’s chips or kid’s fruit, and a drink — organic milk, organic chocolate milk, organic apple juice or a 16 fl oz soda/iced tea. Protein choices run the full line, and there are also guacamole and queso blanco versions where the dip is the main. The Kids Quesadilla ($5.15–$5.70, cheese only $4.40–$4.90) is the protein with Monterey Jack cheese, plus rice and beans, the same kid’s chips or fruit side, and the same drink choice.

Chipotle does not publish an age limit for the kids’ meals in its menu materials — they are menu items, ordered like any other item on this page. Kids’-meal deals and kids’-meal ordering tricks are not menu content: the deal side sits in the Deals section below, and the so-called kids-meal hack is answered in the Secret Menu section.

Specials & Limited-Time Items

The High Protein Menu is Chipotle’s standing curated menu — it launched on January 5, 2026 and is a permanent part of the menu, not a promotion. Its nine preset builds, with the official calories and protein Chipotle publishes for each, are listed in the menu on this page and in the Nutrition table below: double-protein bowls and a double-protein burrito, high-fiber and low-calorie bowls (both tagged GLP-1 friendly by Chipotle), a high-protein taco, and four single-protein Cups. Chipotle sells the Cups and the taco as exact standard items (a side of protein; a single chicken taco), so those carry normal prices; the four preset entrée builds are priced in ordering as the underlying build, which is why they carry no single price — see Prices.

The limited-time protein slot currently differs by market, and that is the honest state of the menu in October 2026. Pollo Asado — grilled chicken in a citrus-and-spice marinade — is the nationally featured limited-time protein: it leads chipotle.com’s homepage and was on the Austin and Chicago menus checked, priced just above chicken at $9.95–$10.55 an entrée. At the Denver restaurant checked, the same slot is filled by Smoked Serrano Steak at a premium $12.25 an entrée, with its quesadilla the most expensive standard-format item sampled at $12.80. The new Chili Lime Chips are sold at all three. Chipotle publishes no end date for either protein, so none is printed here — the rows in the menu above are tagged Seasonal and state which sampled menus carried them.

There are no standing lunch specials: the lunch demand at this chain is answered by the regular menu at regular prices (see How the Chipotle Menu Works), and Chipotle’s dated promotions — which do exist, and do rotate — are covered in the Deals section rather than printed with dates that would go stale.

Secret Menu & Hacks

Chipotle publishes no secret menu, and nothing in this section is an official item. What exists is a build line that will assemble requests from listed ingredients — so every “secret” item below is stated as what it actually is at the counter.

  • Quesarito — a burrito wrapped in a cheese quesadilla instead of a plain tortilla. It has never been an official Chipotle menu item or SKU. It is a build request: a cheese quesadilla used as the wrap for a standard burrito build, priced as the components ordered. Whether a given restaurant will make it is that restaurant’s call.
  • 3-pointer — a burrito built with only three ingredients (named for the old points-based shorthand for a cheaper build). It is not a menu item or a discounted product: you order a standard burrito and simply choose fewer fillings. The price is the standard protein price — fewer ingredients do not lower it.
  • Double wrap — real, and officially priced: a second flour tortilla wrapped around your burrito costs $0.50. It is the one hack that is also a line item in Chipotle’s own ordering (see Extras & Add-Ons).
  • The kids-meal hack — ordering a Kids Build Your Own ($5.60–$5.95) as a cheap small burrito bowl. It works only to the extent the item itself goes: it is a 2 oz-protein kids’ meal with its own tortillas, side and drink, not a discounted adult entrée, and it carries no adult-sized portion.

That is the whole supported list. Any other named “secret” item is a social-media build: if it can be assembled from the rice, beans, proteins, salsas and toppings in the menu on this page, the line can usually make it as a custom order at standard prices; if it needs an ingredient Chipotle does not stock, it cannot be made at all.

Nutrition & Calories

Chipotle’s nutrition system is different from most chains, and it decides how every calorie question about this menu has to be answered: Chipotle publishes calories per ingredient, not per entrée. There are no official calorie totals for a chicken burrito or a steak bowl, because the total depends on the build you choose. The figures below are Chipotle’s official per-serving values — the same data behind its Nutrition Calculator at chipotle.com/nutrition-calculator, which is the official tool that sums a specific build. Chipotle publishes no US nutrition PDF, so any “Chipotle nutrition PDF” in circulation is the calculator data or an outdated file.

The Official Ingredient Figures

Ingredient (standard serving) Calories
Flour Tortilla (burrito size) 320
Cilantro-Lime White Rice 210
Brown Rice 210
Black Beans 130
Pinto Beans 130
Chicken (4 oz) 180
Steak (4 oz) 150
Beef Barbacoa (4 oz) 170
Carnitas (4 oz) 210
Sofritas (4 oz) 150
Pollo Asado (4 oz) 180
Guacamole (4 oz) 230
Queso Blanco (2 oz, in-entrée) 120
Monterey Jack Cheese 110
Sour Cream 110
Chipotle-Honey Vinaigrette 220
Cilantro Lime Sauce (2 oz) 80
Roasted Chili-Corn Salsa 80
Tomatillo-Red Chili Salsa 30
Fresh Tomato Salsa 25
Fajita Veggies 20
Tomatillo-Green Chili Salsa 15
Romaine Lettuce 5

The build math, worked on a standard full build — white rice, black beans, chicken, fresh tomato salsa, cheese, sour cream and lettuce: a burrito bowl totals about 770 calories (210 + 130 + 180 + 25 + 110 + 110 + 5). The identical build as a burrito totals about 1,090 calories — the only difference is the 320-calorie tortilla. Add guacamole to either and add 230. That is why bowl-versus-burrito is the single biggest calorie decision on the menu, and why no single “calories in a Chipotle burrito” figure exists: a steak burrito with double rice and guacamole and a sofritas burrito with light rice are both “a Chipotle burrito,” several hundred calories apart. For your exact build, the Nutrition Calculator sums these same official figures.

The standalone items do carry official totals, and they are in the menu on this page: Chips 540 (large 810), Side of Guacamole 230, Side of Queso Blanco 240, Chips & Guacamole 770, and Large Chips & Large Guacamole 1,270 — the chips-and-dip combination, not an entrée, is the largest single calorie figure on the standard menu. The Family Meals carry Chipotle’s published per-person ranges where the chain publishes them (chicken 520–1,220; steak and sofritas 490–1,190); Chipotle publishes no range for the carnitas, barbacoa or limited-time-protein family builds, and those rows state the gap rather than a figure.

The High Protein Menu, With Its Published Protein Counts

Build Protein Calories
Double High Protein Bowl 81 g 760
Double High Protein Burrito 79 g 840
High Protein-High Fiber Bowl (14 g fiber) 46 g 540
High Protein Cup — Pollo Asado 37 g 220
High Protein-Low Calorie Bowl 36 g 470
High Protein Cup — Chicken 32 g 180
High Protein Cup — Steak 21 g 150
Smoked Serrano Steak High Protein Cup 19 g 150
High Protein Taco 15 g 190

For a standard build, protein comes from the 4 oz protein serving — chicken 180 calories, steak 150, barbacoa 170, carnitas 210, sofritas 150 — and doubling it is the $3.80–$6.70 extra-portion charge in the Extras list. The lightest standard proteins by calories are steak and sofritas at 150 per serving; carnitas, at 210, is the heaviest. Swapping a rice for the supergreens base, dropping cheese and sour cream (110 each) and keeping guacamole is the build pattern behind the low-calorie preset above.

Allergens & Dietary

Chipotle’s published allergen position, from its official Allergens & Special Diet page: “Although we do not use eggs, mustard, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, shellfish, or fish as ingredients in our food, Chipotle cannot guarantee the complete absence of these allergens in its restaurants.” Everything is prepared in a shared kitchen, and individual foods may come into contact with one another during preparation — so the absence of an allergen as an ingredient is not a guarantee of absence in the finished item. Chipotle’s nutrition data marks the allergens it does use: dairy (cheese, sour cream, queso blanco and the cilantro lime sauce), soy (sofritas) and sulphites (present only from vinegar, below the federal listing threshold, and labeled for transparency).

Gluten

Chipotle combines wheat and gluten on its allergen chart because every gluten-containing item it sells contains wheat, and in practice the flour tortilla is the only core ingredient flagged for gluten. Chipotle’s own guidance for guests with celiac disease: do not eat the flour tortillas, and ask the crew to change gloves at the start of your order — they will. That makes bowls, salads and crispy-corn-tortilla tacos the gluten-free formats. One caveat is printed in Chipotle’s own materials: the corn items — chips, crispy corn tortillas and the corn salsa — can carry trace gluten from co-mingling in the field before the corn reaches the restaurant.

Vegan, Vegetarian & Other Diets

Sofritas is vegan, and so are the tortillas, vegetables, rice, beans, salsas, chips and guacamole. Vegans must also skip the Chipotle-honey vinaigrette — it is made with honey — along with the meats, cheese, queso blanco and sour cream. The cheese and queso blanco are made with vegetable-based rennet, and the sour cream is 100% cultured cream. Carnitas is pork. The diet-bowl questions resolve to builds, not labels: a keto-style or Whole30-style bowl is assembled from the standard ingredients (the named presets are discontinued — see Bowls above), and the two High Protein bowls Chipotle itself tags “GLP-1 friendly” are the High Protein-High Fiber Bowl and the High Protein-Low Calorie Bowl. Chipotle does not certify or label any item halal in its published allergen and ingredient materials; the ingredient lists themselves are the check. The Nutrition Calculator is the official tool for building an order around a specific restriction.

Prices

146 of the 150 items on this page are priced, and every price is a range from Chipotle’s own ordering system — the same system behind chipotle.com ordering — pulled on October 26, 2026 from three restaurants: Denver, CO (#73, 1480 16th St), Austin, TX (#3328) and Chicago, IL (#88). Denver and Chicago agreed on every shared item; Austin runs about $0.60 higher on entrées, kids’ and family items, so most entrée ranges are Denver/Chicago at the bottom and Austin at the top. Chipotle prices by restaurant, so treat the range as the verified spread of this sample, not a national guarantee — an un-sampled market can sit outside it.

These are pickup prices. Chipotle’s ordering data carries separate, higher delivery prices — delivery costs more, and delivery figures are deliberately not what is printed here. Third-party delivery apps price differently again.

The four unpriced rows are the High Protein Menu’s preset entrée builds — the Double High Protein Bowl, the High Protein-High Fiber Bowl, the High Protein-Low Calorie Bowl and the Double High Protein Burrito. They are configurations, not priced items: Chipotle’s ordering prices them as the underlying bowl or burrito plus any extra protein, and the chain publishes no single price for the build itself. The reason is stated on each row. The price anchors for the whole menu: a side tortilla and a double wrap are the floor at $0.50, standard entrées run $9.35–$12.80, and the ceiling is the Family Meal at $50.00–$66.00 depending on protein.

Hours

Most Chipotle restaurants open at 10:45 AM and close at 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM, seven days a week. Suburban restaurants keep the pattern evenly — the Aurora, CO location checked runs 10:45 AM–10:00 PM daily, and Austin #3328 runs 10:45 AM–11:00 PM daily. Downtown restaurants run shorter, weekday-weighted hours: Denver #73 is open Monday–Friday 10:45 AM–9:00 PM and Saturday–Sunday 10:45 AM–7:00 PM, and Chicago #88 runs Monday–Friday 10:30 AM–10:00 PM and Saturday–Sunday 11:00 AM–8:00 PM. There are no separate lunch or dinner hours — the full menu is served from opening to closing, and the same pattern covers holiday questions: hours on days such as Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day are set per restaurant and posted on that restaurant’s official location page, which is the source to check for a specific store on a specific day.

Gift Cards

Chipotle gift cards do not expire and carry no fees — that is the chain’s own published gift-card FAQ wording. Cards are sold in any amount from $10 to $250 per card (up to 10 cards per purchase; a bulk channel handles 10 or more), as e-gift cards or mailed physical cards through chipotle.com/gift-cards, and physical cards are also sold in restaurants and at retail stores. Cards are for US restaurants — they are not accepted outside the United States, so a US card cannot be spent at a Canadian or other foreign Chipotle.

Check a balance three ways:

  • At any US Chipotle restaurant — the crew can check the card at the register.
  • By phone: 1-877-925-4878.
  • Online: the balance portal Chipotle’s gift card page links to (chipotle.wgiftcard.com), with the card number.

For ordering, the card works the way the balance does — at US restaurants and in Chipotle’s own ordering channels, where the card number is entered at payment; if a card will not apply in the app, the balance routes above confirm the card itself is live, and the restaurant register is the fallback that always accepts it.

Deals, Coupons & Chipotle Rewards

Chipotle Rewards pays 10 points for every $1 spent. Points do not expire as long as you make at least one qualifying purchase per year. The published Rewards Exchange ladder is fixed and printed here because it does not rotate:

  • 85 points — Side Tortilla
  • 350 points — Chips
  • 400 points — Fountain Drink
  • 500 points — Guacamole
  • 700 points — Double Protein
  • 815 points — 50% Off an Entrée
  • 1,625 points — a free Entrée
  • 1,775 points — Entrée and Chips

Joining earns a free Chips & Guac (with a $5 minimum purchase). Members also get monthly bonus reward drops, extra points from “Extras” challenges and badges, and a birthday reward — your choice of one reward (chips, guac, queso or a drink) during your birthday month. One reward per order: rewards, coupons and promo codes cannot be combined. Chipotle U Rewards is the student tier of the same program.

Beyond the program, Chipotle’s promotions are dated and rotate — the Halloween Boorito event and occasional buy-one-get-one offers are the recurring shapes, and they run on official channels with their own terms and end dates. Because they expire, this page prints no promo codes and no dated offer terms: check the app and chipotle.com for the promotion running today. There is no always-on military discount — military offers appear only as occasional promotions — and the student benefit is the Chipotle U tier above, not a register discount.

Items Not on the Current Menu

These items and proteins are not sold on Chipotle’s current menu — none appears in the official menu data or in any of the three restaurant menus checked for this page:

  • Lifestyle Bowls — the named Whole30, Keto, Paleo and Vegan preset bowls; discontinued and replaced by the High Protein Menu.
  • Carne Asada — a former limited-time steak; not currently sold.
  • Garlic Guajillo Steak — a former limited-time steak; not currently sold.
  • Chicken al Pastor — a former limited-time chicken; not currently sold.
  • Smoked Brisket — a former limited-time protein; not currently sold.
  • Chorizo and Plant-Based Chorizo — former proteins; neither is currently sold.
  • Chicken Tinga and Honey Chicken — former proteins; not currently sold.
  • Mexican Cauliflower Rice — the former cauliflower-rice base option; the current bases are the two rices and the supergreens blend.

Chipotle rotates its limited-time proteins, and retired proteins have returned before — but as of October 2026, none of the items above is orderable, and the live limited-time slot is Pollo Asado or Smoked Serrano Steak depending on the market (see Specials).

Looking for a specific store, its address or its hours today? Locations live in the store locator on chipotle.com and in the restaurant directory — this page covers the menu, not individual stores. Feeding a group? Beyond the Family Meals in the menu above, catering and group orders are a separate Chipotle channel with its own menu and ordering path.

Need this menu on paper? Print this page from your browser — it prints as the complete Chipotle menu with prices. Chipotle publishes no US menu PDF and no US nutrition PDF, so this page is the printable form of both; the same menu is also browsable in Spanish on chipotle.com.

Menu verified — October 2026. Prices were pulled from Chipotle’s own ordering system for restaurants in Denver, CO, Austin, TX and Chicago, IL on October 26, 2026, and are shown as the lowest-to-highest range found; they are pickup prices — delivery costs more.
